Billy H Lytal

Billy Harold Lytal, age 88, died Tuesday July 14th, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born August 10, 1937, in Booneville to Edward & Lizzie Lytal. He married Quay King in September of 1956. He spent his early career working with his brothers maintaining a Memphis office building. They moved to Booneville in 1972 and he worked as a professional house painter and he built, owned and maintained numerous rental properties in Booneville until his death. He was a member of East Booneville Baptist church, served as head usher and taught a senior Sunday School Class for many years until his illness. If you passed by his home and properties on East Church Street you would most likely see him on his tractor working on the place as he kept his yard immaculate. Also, you could find him riding around town in his pickup or jeep. He loved Booneville and its people. He will be missed by many. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday July 18th at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Howell officiating. Steve Lytal will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be Friday, July 17th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will begin at 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. He is survived by his three children, Debbie Barrett (Mitch) of Booneville, Stephen Lytal (Cindy) of Foley, AL, and Doug Lytal (Cindy) of Mooreville; his grandchildren, Casey Lytal Hall, Megan Lytal and Kaley Lytal McCord; great grandchildren, Neely Stewart Claborn, Zoey Stewart, and Maverick McCord; a host of nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Sis Koon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Quay, his four siblings, Inez Norwood, Sarah Martic, Walter Lytal and Junior Lytal and his dog, Bell. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Bobby Parsons, Carlous King, Christopher King, Scotty Hancock and Daniel Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be present and past members of his East Booneville Baptist Church Sunday school class. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo at sanctuaryhospice.org or by calling 662.844.2111 Condolences may be made to the family at boonevillefuneralhome.net
