Mr. Ellis Edward Thornton

Ellis Edward Thornton, 86, died Saturday 24, 2015, at Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth. He was born June 24, 1929, in Prentiss County to Leafus Edward and Myrtle Fortener Thornton. He was retired from Tyrone Industries in Corinth where he worked as an inspector and he also was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII attaining the rank of Corporal. He loved farming, his children and especially his grandchildren with whom he enjoyed playing checkers. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 26, at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dale Ross and Bro. David George officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 25, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Taylor Corbin Thornton; three sons, Keith Thornton (Debbie) of Counce, Tenn., Freddie Corbin (Lynn) of Jumpertown, and Tommy Corbin (Lorie) of Pontotoc; two daughters, Kathy Farra (Tommy) of Tupelo and Jennifer Stephens (Anthony) of Jumpertown; two brothers, J.W. Thornton (Marilyn) of Wallis, Texas and Charles Thornton of Booneville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Louise Beasley Thornton; brother, Curtis Thornton; two sisters, Annas Crawford and Audrey Folk; grandson, Heath Thornton, and a granddaughter, Kaylee Nicole Stephens. Pallbearers will be Sam Farrar, Cody Stephens, Noah Corbin, Jonah Corbin, and Ty Corbin. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Odle, John Berryhill, Walter Tucker, and Shelby Morrow.
