Floyd Wesley “Wes” Sappington, 82, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at his home in Marietta. He was born February 24, 1933 to James and Mary Sappington in Pontotoc, Mississippi. He was a retired maintenance worker for Lake County Forest Preserve. Wes was a member of East Marietta Baptist Church. He had a passion for all animals, and enjoyed taking care of them. He also trained race horses and always enjoyed a game of horseshoes. In his free time, Wes loved to make wood crafts. Services will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chuck Boxx officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 10:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sappington, whom he married on December 24, 1956: one son, Richard Sappington (Lori) of Wauconda, Illinois; one daughter, Tammy Behm (Brian) of Gurnee, Illinois; two granddaughters, Melissa Behm-Walter of Gages Lake, Illinois, Alicia Hall of Island Lake, Illinois; two grandsons, Mitchell Behm of Gurnee, Illinois, and Andrew Sappington of Wauconda, Illinois; and one sister, Reba Stevens of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Smith Sappington; and four brothers, James Sappington, Raymond Sappington, Millard Sappington, and Wayne Sappington.
