Margaret Goddard

Margaret Cunningham Godwin Goddard, 78, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born September 08, 1937, in Booneville to Jesse Cleveland Godwin Sr. and Belvia Cunningham Godwin. She graduated from Booneville High School and from Mississippi University for Women. After teaching in the public schools at Baldwyn, Wheeler and Thrasher for 30 years. She worked in the cafeteria at Northeast Mississippi Community College for 25 years. She was a Sunday school teacher at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Jumpertown. Her special talent was her beautiful singing voice, and she performed throughout the years at various functions and events. She was enthusiastic about sports, especially football and especially her Ole Miss Rebels. She enjoyed literature, poetry, movies, family gatherings, girl trips and decorating for and celebrating holidays. She was a devoted and loving sister, wife and mother. She enjoyed her family, friends, co-workers and students. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 11 at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time. Brother Danny Rowland will officiate. Burial will be at Crossroads United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Jessica Logan (Greg) of Drasco, Arkansas and Alicia Goddard of Tupelo; two sons, Richard Cullen Goddard, Jr. and Jeremy Goddard, both of Booneville; and her wonderful, devoted friend since first grade, Peggy Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard Cullen Goddard, Sr.; her parents; three brothers, James Newton Godwin, Jesse Cleveland Godwin Jr. and William Robert Godwin; and three sisters, Maxine Godwin Canon, Marie Godwin Wright and Marjorie Godwin Davis.
