Ms. Ruby Lucy Garvin Obituary (1934

“Lucy” Garvin, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a sudden illness. She was born June 9, 1934, inPrentiss County to Lee Earnest and Fannie Catherine Taylor Bennett. She was a graduate of Marietta High School in 1954 where she was a star basketball player. She was a member of Mt.Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church. She was a dedicated employee of Prentiss Manufacturing for over 20 years. Her family was her greatest blessing. Spending time with them brought her the most joy. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday Dec. 18th, in the Booneville Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Wayne Smith conducting. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors included four sons, Jimmy Dale Garvin, Ricky Garvin (Elana), Greg Garvin (Kelli), and Jeff Garvin; eight grandchildren, Misty Flurry (Matt Putman), Tiffany Hunt (Jeff), Justin Garvin, Jessica Garvin, Kelly Garvin, Madison Garvin, Paige Garvin (Jason McClellan), and Jake Garvin ;a sister, Earnestine Lindley (Hollis); two sisters in law, Lera Garvin and Ann Bennett; a brother in law, P. D. Thornton. She also is survived by nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Jimmy Ray Garvin; three sisters , Jessie Bennett, Bertha Thornton, and Clara Bennett; two brother, James Bennett and Junior Bennett and wife Neva; a daughter in law, Carrie Garvin; and a great grandchild, Hunter Flurry.
