Samuel Dean English
October 28, 1939 - August 31, 2026

Samuel Dean English, 86, of the Jumpertown community, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. Born October 28, 1939, at the family home in Jumpertown to Grandville and Vida McCord English. Dean was a lifelong resident of Prentiss County. He graduated from Jumpertown High School and worked as a farmer and a County employee. He also served for many years as a dedicated board member for the Jumpertown Cemetery. He had a deep love for the cemetery, viewing his service not just as a duty, but as a cherished tradition and a way to honor his family's roots. Dean loved the simple things; listening to coon dogs run, spending time with family and friends, and "
loafering." He survived cancer, was quick to laugh or smile, and was quicker to forgive if wronged.
Dean was a kind and caring Christian man who lived his life as a quiet, faithful example to everyone around him. He will always be respected and loved by those who truly knew him for his unwavering devotion to the care of his father and mother. While Dean never married and did not have children of his own, he acted as a father figure to many in a way that measures far beyond the legacy of blood. He was the last of his immediate family's generation, but he leaves behind a thriving lineage through the next generations.
